The world has changed. Since businesses like Airbnb and Uber started, a world of independent hosts of services has been unleashed. It's awesome, in most cases more affordable, and you're helping families and small businesses. It's important to beware and do your due diligence. Like now that Airbnb is a trading company its too corporate see video below. I always do a search 'BBB' + the name of a company to see the pro and cons of users. You can rent someone's car, truck, camper, pool, backyard, business space, and the opportunities are wide open. Here are a few of my favorite (and not favorite but popular) resources. In some cases, you can stay overnight in a Walmart parking lot with your RV for free, or the backyard of a winery for free! What!! Harvest Hosts gives you access to an exclusive list of breweries, wineries, farms, and golf courses where you can sleep overnight in your RV for free or a small fee, or promise to shop in their store! Craziness! Way off the beaten path and unique experiences. And I love it. Hotels are great too, you at least know what to expect and getting refunds are generally easier.

Vrbo is an online vacation rental website (similar to Airbnb) where property owners can list their homes for rent, some are listed on both website sites. Travelers can book them and Vrbo handles the transaction.In my experience Vrbo was a stark difference than Airbnb when our family had issues and had to cancel weeks before our trip, as long as they could re-book to someone else at the last minute we got 100% Refund! AirBnB Buyer Beware -Rent a Home / Room / Castle +
Buyer Beware; you can Rent a home, room, castle, tree house, pool, whatever. However you only have 48 hours to cancel to get any money back even if you cancel 7 months in advanced! Outrageous! $650!! For me the owner of the home was ok with canceling and getting 100% refund, AirBnB didn't care, Only Ai would give the same answers.
So I went to talk to a real person at the head quarters and was police escorted out, they gave me a number to call, and Ai gave me menus to answer general questions. You can watch the video where I was almost arrested by a SFPD. If you own a place, I would list at Vrbo instead. Make your own judgement.
